The business industry keeps changing, and so do its needs. Supply chain management is an essential component in any industry. It is the management of the goods and services flow between the locations and businesses, including the movement of the raw materials. It involves the process of keeping an eye on the finished goods and product order from the origin point to the point of consumption. The management positions require high skills in logistics and supply chain management. Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Center (LSCM) was established in the year of 2006 with funding from the government and this has also done so much to the betterment of IoT systems in Hong Kong.

The Centre is hosted by the leading universities of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, the University of Hong Kong, and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The foundation reflects the enthusiasm and concerted effort on the part of the industry, government, research institutes, and academia. The vision of the LSCM is to be the leading Centre of excellence in e-commerce, logistics, supply chain management, and industrial development and to be a location where technology and innovations can be embraced. The mission is to encourage the competencies in the related areas and to collaborate with communities and industries to make a positive impact.

LSCM

LSCM has facilitated the e-lock technology development for the improvement of IoT systems. This innovation supports many control processes for secured operation across varying custom controls. Asymmetric keys are used for enhanced security in the activation and deactivation of e-lock gadgets. The technology is easily operable and effective, hence, improving efficiency and security in operation across all the sectors.

The use of a single e-lock scheme has made custom clearance and transshipment more convenient. All information about the lock’s status is transferred to the driver with the help of indication signals that are displayed on the panels of the driver’s cabin.
